Our team of vets are able to provide veterinary advice for dogs, cats, and other domestic pets. Our team can also provide general advice on exotic pets and wildlife.

What is vet telehealth?

Vet telehealth is a service that provides virtual veterinary care through video call or live text chat. Our service allows you to consult with a vet from wherever you are. Our vets can triage your pet, give first aid advice and provide you with an action plan should next steps be required.

Our team of vets are available to you 24/7, every day of the year. Yes, even late nights, weekends, and public holidays. Whenever you have a question, we’re here to help.

Our telehealth service should not replace your pet’s GP or emergency hospital. Instead our vets can give you quick advice within minutes and give you peace of mind. Our vets will give you an action plan and care instructions tailored to your pet.

How do I speak to a vet?

To connect with a vet, you will need an active DOG+ membership. In your Account, simply click on the TALK TO A VET button and you will be connected to a vet within minutes.

What happens if I need a prescription?

Our team of vets can recommend over-the-counter treatments, however they will be unable to write prescriptions as they have not physically examined your pet. For prescriptions, please contact your local vet or emergency hospital.

Who are the DOG+ vets?

Our team are all practising vets who are Australian board-registered. Our team has worked in clinics around Australia for over 10 years.

What kind of problems or questions can the DOG+ vets give advice on?

Our telehealth service should not replace your pet’s GP or emergency hospital. Our vets will assist with triage, first aid advice and can provide a general action plan.

Our vets can give advice on problems or questions relating to:

  • Pre-existing health conditions

  • Altered consciousness
  • Breathing difficulty
  • Pale or bluish gums
  • Severe bleeding
  • Ongoing seizures
  • Inability to walk normally
  • Reduced or absent urination

What happens if I get disconnected during my consultation?

The vet will call you back on the phone number that you provided.

Will I receive a summary of the information provided by the vet?

Yes you will receive a summary of your consultation via email once it has concluded. Please keep this for your records and share it with your GP or emergency hospital.

Can I pause or cancel my membership?

Your membership will auto-renew after one year. If you would like to cancel, you can do this in your Account. If you cancel your membership it will still be valid for the remainder of your 12 month membership and it will not auto-renew.

This saved my dog’s life!
My dog had a bee sting which quickly progressed to anaphylaxis. The vet spotted the signs early via video call and told me to visit the emergency hospital immediately where they gave her life-saving treatment.

Put my worries at ease
I’m a really anxious cat owner, Bella is my baby. When she was acting strangely I was able to chat with the vet who helped me work out what was going on. I visited my GP vet the next day and everything was ok. This was so helpful for reassurance after hours.

The best value for money
I use this service for everything, whether it’s what to feed my dog or if I have any random questions. When you have two dogs and a bird, this really comes in handy. Best money ever spent!
